QUICK ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

(1) Do I have to stay during the sale to take care of my stuff? NO. You are welcome to come during the sale and help if you would like, but we will have volunteers scheduled to work during the sale. You simply bring your items in priced and ready to be sold and we will take care of the rest.

(2) How much will it cost me to participate?  The only cost to you is the $8 registration fee and the consignment percentage that goes to Too Little 4 Me.  The registration fee will be used for advertising costs and overhead.

(3) What if I am not sure how to price the items or don’t want to? Guidelines are given to help with pricing.  Remember, you set the price on all items you are selling. Shoppers are interested in good deals. "PRICE TO SELL".  A good rule of thumb is 1/3 – 1/2 of the item’s original retail price. It is also good to ask yourself: “What would I be willing to pay for this item?” Items must be priced in $1.00 increments.  The lowest you can price an item/items is $2.00.

(4) What if I want my unsold items back?
You are welcome to pick up items after the sale. However, they must be picked up during the time designated for pickup or they will be donated to charity. As we have to vacate the buildings at designated times, there are NO EXCEPTIONS.  If you are unable to pick up your items and you would like them back, you may give permission to someone else to pick up your items. If you will be having someone else pick up your items, please provide the name of that person to one of the Too Little 4 Me staff members at the time of drop-off so that we can provide you with a Release and Waiver form.

(5) How do I earn 70% of the sale profits? Standard earnings are 60%, but you can earn an additional percentage of your sales price with our incentive programs (volunteering for 4 or 8 hours, referring NEW consignors and assisting with advertising through passing out flyers).

If you bring your children please understand that we do not have childcare available and therefore your children must be watched at all times.

(10) How can I come to the pre-sale? The presale is only for consignors and volunteers.  Join the fun . . . volunteer and shop during the pre-sale.

(11) Why shouldn’t I just have a garage sale? Garage sales are great, but they are a lot of work and shoppers want to haggle with you regarding the price. By consigning with us, you eliminate a lot of the hassles: advertising, haggling over price, strangers at your home, concerns about the weather, and your time.

(12) When do I get paid?  You will receive your check within 10-14 days of the end of the sale.

(13)  When and how do I learn which of my items sold and for how much?  Within 1-3 days of the end of the sale, each consignor will be able to sign-in to www.toolittle4me.net to check on the status of their individual sales by clicking the button entitled "Inventory Settlement Reporting."

(14)  What type of items can I submit for sale?  Seasonal items only?  Spring and summer items during the April/May sale and fall and winter items during the August/September sale.

(15)  How do I package my items for sale?  Bring your items separated and grouped by size and gender to speed up the Drop-off process.

(16)  What is considered a first-time parent?  A first-time dad, a woman who is pregnant or has an infant that is less than 1 yr old, a new adoptive parent and a new foster parent.

(17) Is a first-time parent entitled to anything special?  We are excited to extend an invitation for the Early Pre-Sale to first-time parents.  A first-time parent is a first-time dad, a woman who is pregnant or has an infant that is less than 1 yr old, a new adoptive parent and a new foster parent. If you fall into one of these categories, please contact us for your invitation. The invitation is only for the first-time parent.

(18)  Okay, how do I get started?  First register as a consignor and pay your registration fee.  Once you have received the Too Little 4 Me e-mail registration acknowledgement you should decide what items you want to sell.  When deciding, keep this helpful tips in mind:

CLOTHING

  • Inspect your clothig very carefully.  Make sure they are not stained, worn, wrinkled, torn, or outdated.
  • Be sure all clothing is zipped, buttoned, snapped, and buckled.
  • Place all clothing on hangers or pinned with safety pins to the hanger. Clothing must be hung so the front of the item and hanger form a question mark "?".   See examples below.
  • Pants and skirts should be pinned to the hanger.  It is suggested that when pinning two piece outfits one piece of the outfit is pinned to the front of the hanger and the other is pinned to the back.  Both pieces should face outward so shoppers do not have to lift the first piece to view the second.

SHOES

  • Shoes should be bound together with shoe-strings, velcro, "zip ties" or safety pin. Shoes will not be accepted in zip lock bags.
  • Laces must be in excellent condition.

Pin tag to the top of shoes.   See examples below. TAG2

FURNITURE

  •  All furniture must be assembled by you.  Furniture that is assembled sells faster and for a higher price.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to set up your furniture during drop-off.
  • Make certain all parts are included!

TOYS

  • Toys must be in working condition with batteries included.  Having working batteries increases the possibility of your item selling.
  • All toys, puzzles and games should be cleaned and include all pieces.

BEDDING

  • Bedding such as comforters, blankets, quilts, sheets, bumper pads, should not be stained, worn, wrinkled, or torn.
  •  Where possible, accessories to the bedding, i.e., wall hangings, should have a protective covering.

 DVDS, CDS, CASSETTES & VIDEOS

  • DVDs, CDs, Cassettes and videos must be in the original case.
  • Individual items should have tags taped to the back cover with clear packing tape.

CAR SEATS

  • Car Seats Consignors will be required to sign a waiver at check-in verifying the following:

a.  The car seat is less than 5 years old;

b.  The car seat has the manufacturer sticker attached.

c.  The car seat is not on the www.carseat.org recall list.

d.  The car seat has never been in an accident.

Now that you know what you are selling, log into your account so that you can begin to enter your items into the Inventory Bank.  You will be guided through step by step.  You will need to enter a brief description of your item (including the namebrand, if popular, is helpful in selling your item.  You will need to also enter the size of the clothing, if applicable, the suggested gender associated with the item, the price (See FAQ # 3 above for pricing tips.), whether you agree to have your item sold for 50% of your designated price during the 1/2 price sale; and whether you are willing to donote the item to charity should it not sell during the sales event.

Once you have completed entering your data, "Save" the information.  Repeat this process for each item you intend to sell.  Once you have entered all of your data, print out your Tags and affix them, with a safety pin, to the top right side of your items.  The tags will print out 10 to a page.  Depending on the number of items you intend to consign, you may want to print your tags along the way.

Once all of your selling items have be entered, print the Inventory sheet containing all of your sale items.  Keep one copy for your records and remember that you must bring one copy with you at Drop-off.

(19)  Okay, I have reviewed all of the helpful hints, now what?  You are now ready to begin entering you items into the inventory bank.  When entering your items, be sure to provide a brief description of your item, the size, if applicable, the price, whether you are authorizing your item to be sold at the half price sale, should it not sell during the main sale and whether you want to donate you item at the conclusion of the sales event.   Continue this process until you have entered all of your items.  Print your tags/labels and affix them to your item with a safety pin.   NOTE:  When looking at your item, the tag/label should be on the right side.  The use of a tagging gun is permitted.  We ask that you try to minimize the whole affiliated with the tagging process.

For toys and other items for which labels cannot be safety pinned, please used adhesive tape.  Be sure affix the label in an area that does not result in damage to the sale item.

In order to ensure that your tags/labels remain on your clothing or items (especially after being handled during events), Too Little 4 Me recommends that you use card stock paper.   Card stock paper can be found at most office stores.
